Aberdeen City Council has produced a preliminary leaflet, introducing Nortrail in Aberdeen. Comments would be gratefully received.

As part of the marketing strategy for Nortrail Aberdeen, a leaflet has been printed and also published on the councils website
http://www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/acc_data/service/cd_nortrail.asp
The aim of this leaflet is to raise awareness within the City about the trail and encourage people to use it!
The target groups range from school children and hikers to local businesses and community support groups. The challenge has been to provide enough information to make it clear what the project is and why it has a broad appeal, whilst keeping the total amount of text to a minimum.
Key Messages the leaflet should put accross
It's a great resource on your doorstep
Different walks are available to suit all abilities
Things to see and do for everyone
Still developing the trail – more attractions planned
Part of wider project – The North Sea Trail.
The following specifications were drawn up to ensure that the correct information was put accross in a user friendly format.
Specifications
Front page must be attractive and exciting with clear text
Major attractions should be listed and numbered on map
Information must not go out of date
include information about funding from Interreg IIIB
Good quality images and maps are essential
Publicise existing leaflets on coastal wildlife
Publicise adjacent Trail in Aberdeenshire
Include essential contact details
Include Nortrail Logo, EU flag, Interreg Logo and Council Logo
Credit other funders and partners
Reference responsible access and safety
Add a publication date
Indicate distances, slopes and path surface type on map to allow users to decide which section is best for them.
Indicate parking and toilet locations
List railway and bus links
Use contrasting tones/colours
Sans-serif fonts are more legible when character size is small
Monospaced fonts rather than proportionally spaced fonts
No italics
A distribution list is being drawn up in order to maximise the awareness of the project within the city. A new leaflet is planned in 2005 which will also be marketed outside the city and internationally.
All comments on this leaflet would be gratefully received.
